Flores is one of the most beautiful islands in Indonesia but attracts very few foreign tourists. Working with local guides with an in-depth knowledge of the island and its history , we have put together an exciting program which enables us to connect with the local communities, learn about the traditional indigenous cultures on the island, and see some of the beautiful landscapes including beaches, islands, mountains, lush green rice fields , Volcanos and turquoise seas.
I have timed this adventure to experience the unique Tedo Tembu festival. This ancient event showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Ngada people’s ancestral traditions and their connection to the land. The festival honors the ancestors and the gods , seeking their blessings and protection of the community.
We will witness vibrant traditional dance performances , traditional music and singing, a cultural procession where participants dressed in traditional attire carry sacred objects such as drums and ancestral statues through the villages. Locals showcase their traditional handicrafts including textiles, wood carvings and pottery.
The local people are waiting to greet us with warm hospitality, so why not join us in October ??
