I am delighted to announce my fifth photography workshop with New Zealand’s top landscape photographers.
Mike Langford and Jackie Ranken have won numerous awards in Australia and New Zealand and are both Canon masters.
Jackie has been awarded AIPP photographer of the year three times and NZIPP Travel Photographer of the year. She has 35 years of experience teaching photography.
Mike has been an international awards judge and lecturer for 25 years and has published more than 26 books on photography, and also 35 years teaching photography.
These guys are the true “ masters” and you will learn so much from them about photography over the 9 days of the tour.
This is a wonderful opportunity to join Mike, Jackie and Dave as we explore the back roads and villages of this beautiful Island and photograph the real essence of Bali that most visitors don’t experience. The tour will venture into West Bali & the ancient kingdom of Karangasem, an area seldom visited by foreigners, offering opportunities to capture Balinese living as they have done for thousands of years. The climax of the tour will be photographing the Nyepi festival near Ubud.
Don’t talk about heaven if you’ve never been to Bali, so said an early explorer.
It really is hard to describe Bali in words, so why not try and capture it on camera sensors?
Bali has it all, towering volcanoes that seem to guard the green lush terraced rice fields stretching out below them, stunning, colourful sunrises and sunsets, thick jungle, waterfalls, sacred rivers, lakes, and thousands of ancient temples.
The light in Bali creates mystical landscapes from dawn until dusk, it is indeed a haven for photographers. The depth and range of colour are incredible.
The rice paddies are a subject in themselves, as they cascade down gentle slopes, following the path of the river or the curves of the mountain, often with stunning jungle backdrops.
But perhaps the greatest thing about Bali is its people. This is a paradise for photographers as the Balinese love to have their photos taken and are very proud to display their culture in all its vibrancy and colour.
Mike and Jackie will take you through ways to capture striking images not only of the landscapes but also indoor portraits and people photography.
With Dave’s knowledge of places to visit, and local connections having lived in Bali for eleven years, this combination will deliver a truly remarkable workshop that will enable participants to capture the true essence of Bali.
The workshop will include six nights in a beautiful four-star Hotel in Ubud, where we will explore the creative heart of the island, and then two nights in the ancient kingdom of Karangasem an area seldom visited by foreigners, but opportunities to capture Balinese living as they have done for thousands of years.
The husband and wife team of Mike Langford and Jackie Ranken are both Canon Masters and Grand Masters of both the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography (NZIPP) and the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP).
They have over thirty years each of photographic experience behind them and have been running photography workshops for over fifteen years.
This will be their Fifth workshop in Bali in conjunction with David Metcalf who knows the back lanes of Bali better than most. David will ensure that we get to the right place at the best time.
“We share openly all the photographic knowledge that we have accumulated over the years and encourage you to do the same. This sharing helps to elevate the learning experience into something truly fantastic”.
